Same Old Tactics. Different Year.
Trying to wake up after a relaxing Sunday afternoon nap. I get a call from my daughter, “MOM! You need to open up the message I sent you right now while I am facetiming you!”
It was nothing I hadn’t seen before. Another ugly, hate-filled attack on the work we do. Only this time it was just a different tactic. Because we don’t provide abortions or refer for them—we are called a “fake clinic”. Now let me just say that again. Because our life-affirming medical clinic does not advocate for the intentional killing of an innocent human being, we are considered fake? Lord, help us.
There is an incredible website that lays out all of the crazy schemes of abortion advocacy groups by Heartbeat International. I could list all the things, but Heartbeat International does it so well here: https://pregnancycentertruth.com/the-truth/pregnancy-centers
My daughter could not understand why so-called keyboard warriors could lie about the work we do and get away with it. I explained that it is nothing new, and unfortunately it will only get worse as we move closer to the verdict that will be handed down by the Supreme Court later in the summer regarding Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
It’s sad that we live in a day where good is called evil and evil is praised for good. The abortion industry is like that 6th grade bully that doesn’t let up. Luckily, the majority of us have grown up and learned to handle these clanging symbols with grace. The enemy knows the best tools to use in order to try and tear down God’s work.
It is no different now than it was in Nehemiah’s day. Any stand you take you are guaranteed to meet with opposition. Nehemiah had been threatened by the enemy many times. He was a man with great discernment. Someone we can certainly learn from. We know we cannot change negative people. Most of them lie to try and make themselves look good and really are covering up something that is off within themselves. Everyone is good for something, if only to serve as a bad example.
As a leader, I do care deeply about those people who shame us, lie about us, etc. But, just like in the days of Nehemiah, we will never get the “wall built” if we spend our time trying to keep negative people happy. It is easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole of hurtful words they continue to spew, but we cannot focus on that. It would drastically take us off course from making a life-saving difference. That’s what families deserve—families deserve to be told THE TRUTH and empowered with all their options regardless of the decisions they make. They need people who care and advocate for the whole person. We are advocating for her and her baby. Loving them both is what we do well.
When we were kids we said, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Words have power, and just as the abortion industry is slinging mud our way, so to speak, they do the same to a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy. They feed into her fears. They do whatever they can to hurt us emotionally and destroy her morale. Shame on them.
So, as abortion advocacy groups continue to share lies and hate and worry about the Supreme Court verdict—we will keep sharing the truth in love and get back to work. Because families that face unexpected pregnancies deserve better. We will continue to provide real hope and real help to families in need. As a believer, I will continue to pray for those who persecute us, because they don’t know the same Jesus we do. One day they will come face to face with Him and we will ALL answer for what we do here on earth.
We will keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and run with endurance the race that is set before us.
How can you help? As a community-funded pregnancy medical clinic, we could not do what we do without people giving financially, volunteering their time, and praying. You can join us as we continue to love and serve our brave families that come to us during their pregnancy and as we continue to support them after.
Take a stand in the face of the enemy and SPEAK TRUTH with us, because someone’s life depends on it! Do as Nehemiah did. He basically said, go ahead and mock us, but God will give us success. Success in the eyes of the Lord is beautiful. We are seeing it every single day. Even when we don’t see it right away—He is still good. Families are thriving as they welcome their baby into this world, men and women are getting healing from past abortions; college students are walking in the way of Jesus, and so much more.
WE REJOICE. Because LIFE is winning. Now it’s time to get back to work.
